CHANGE Environmental was retained to collect samples at a Champion Breeding, Training and Kennel Boarding Facility in East Palestine, OH due to concern of possible chemical exposures to champion blood line breeds during breeding/birthing duration post East Palestine, OH Train derailment in 2023.
CHANGE collected bulk compositional material that were believed to have been stained by materials that stemmed directly from the EP derailment. The target of the analysis was to extract the unknown material, characterize and identify the material using highly scientific techniques of FTIR (Fourier Transformation Infrared Spectroscopy), SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) and EDS (Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy).
The results of the expert lab analysis results indicated the unknown material from the samples, matched with ammonium salts such as chloride, including various other elements/minerals all directly related to the composition of urine and/or breakdown products related to urine production. Other trace non-harmful elements were found in the sample material and the end results indicated there were no harmful compounds in the bulk material that would have indicated effects from the EP derailment.
