Helipad at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center

The San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center (SFVAMC) proposed the construction and operation of a helipad (helicopter takeoff and landing pad) in San Francisco, California. I&R prepared an environmental noise study in accordance with the regulations set forth by the Council on Environmental Quality implementing the provisions of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Several alternatives were considered. The noise assessment consisted of measuring ambient noise levels at the project site, modeling future noise levels generated by project construction and operations, identifying noise impacts, and recommending noise abatement and mitigation measures to reduce exterior and interior noise levels at existing noise sensitive areas to meet the applicable noise control requirements.
